Mid-Week Inspiration!

Hello all my scraptastic friends! Just wanted to share a bit of scrappy-inspiration with you and invite those who are interested to play along in the challenges I host over @scrapbook.com! As many of you know already, I host a Monthly Sketch Challenge, where I post a new sketch each week, plus a bonus sketch for additional inspiration, for a month full of scrapping pleasure. Here is the Bonus Sketch for this week!

I absolutely LUV Susan Stringfellow's sketches and this one is no exception. I came across her blog about a year ago and it has been quite a source of inspiration for me since then. You can view more of her designs on her blog sketchsavvy.blogspot.com.

I also opened a brand new challenge this month which has helped me take a deeper look at why I scrapbook. Lately, I've been feeling the Lord leading me to document my relationship with Him in my scrapbooks as well as my family's everyday memories/major life events. Since He was the one to use this hobby to reach me 2 1/2 years ago, how  appropriate would it be to start an album that's all about my faith as well. So, in an effort to follow my Lord's lead, I thought, why not encourage other women of faith to do the same?  That's how the New Scrap Your Faith Challenge was born! In addition to posting daily scripture passages, I'm also posting a few sketches a month on this challenge as well. It is my prayer that this will become not only a place of scrappy-inspiration, but also a place where women of faith can share their hearts and journeys, and support one another as we strive each and every day to follow our Lord and Savior and live for Him. Below is the last sketch of the month for this challenge.

That's all for now friends! Would love to have all who may be interested join us for the scrapping challenges anytime! Thanks for visiting & have a blessed day!!  : )

Happy Fall Y'all!! : )

Even though I live in a year round tropical climate, I have to admit that Fall is my FAVORITE season of the year. Not that I regularly get to experience it, except by the changing of the merchandise in the local stores, but none the less, I love it!!!
Today I have a LO I've recently completed featuring photos from our anniversary trip last November to the big city of Roanoke, VA--{the hubby's hometown}--where fall was in full swing, check it out!!

Visiting Mill Mountain & seeing the Roanoke Star was easily one of the things I enjoyed the most while we were there. As you can see the weather was beautiful as well, and the trees were all pretty shades of orange, red and green. We're likely to retire here one day, but for now I will have to enjoy reminiscing.
I was inspired to create this LO by a page I came across in my Sept/Oct CK Magazine, (pg. 91 First Day of School by Cora Vincens). This is a little different than my traditional scrappy-style, but I loved her page design so much I had to give it a try. I added a bit more of the inking & misting to my page, in an effort to bring out all the different colors of fall in my photos. I also added a 4th photo underneath the 2 at the bottom right, that I just couldn't stand to leave out. It's the view of the city from the top of the mountain, have a look.

Here you can also see a close-up of the doodled stitching I added around the photos to help 'tie' all the various bits of paper together that I used to frame my photos. In an effort to help keep the focus on the photos, I decided to go w/a minimalistic title that pointed to my subject-hence the use of the acrylic star. It also felt good to use an item from my embellishment hoard that I haven't used on a LO in ages, lol!!
Overall, I couldn't be happier w/how this page turned out and it was a wonderful stroll down memory lane creating it! That's all for today. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope that you are enjoying the beautiful season of fall wherever you are!!  : )

Gettin' Scrappy!

Well the year seems to have flown by. I can hardly believe we're almost to the end of October already.....REALLY!?!?! Until recently I haven't had much time to devote to scrapbooking, and the little bit I have scrapped this year I've been keeping under wraps since it's going to be a gift I give to someone & I don't want them seeing it before it's finished. However I have had a few more spare moments to scrap lately & here's a peek @ some of my latest work.

My Sis-in-law actually mailed me this photo of my adorable little nephew and from the moment I saw it, I couldn't wait to scrap it! The photo was so fabulous I decided to go w/a simple design in order to let it shine. I couldn't be happier with how this page turned out!! I used a combination of three different Basic Grey Lines; Capella, Boxer & Granola-(both pattern paper accent blocks & the rub-on). I scissor distressed the edges of the cardstock, inked the edges of both pattern paper rectangles, and added a simple doodled border around the photo block.

This next LO is a bit more detailed and was a ton of fun creating. It's actually a lift I did for a challenge on scrapbook(.)com. This is one of my FAV photo's of me & Dr. Luke, (as my hubby & I have been referring 2 him since birth). It was taken @ Luke's Great Grandmother's home in Boca Raton, FL a few months after his birth. I dug into my Sassafras Lass & My Mind's Eye stash for this one and can't believe how many coordinating papers I found to match the colors in this photo! I even used a few ancient alphabet stickers from the 1st set of letter stickers I ever bought back in 2001!!

That's all I have to share for now but stay tuned...I just started working on scrapping more of my own photos this week so in another few day's I hope to post my next finished project! Thanks for stopping by and have a Scraptastic Day!!!!
